Martin Brown Films is a screen content development, production and production services company.

Established in 2001, Martin Brown Films has produced feature films, co-productions, documentaries, television programs and commercials for the local and international markets. Its credits include: A Sister’s Love, Mermaids, The View From Greenhaven and One Percenters: Search for a Screenplay. The company provides consultancy services to local and overseas projects on creative content, development, production, post production, subsidies support and infrastructure.

Martin Brown is an experienced film producer with a rich and varied history in the entertainment industry. He has produced projects from $1M to $100M. He was the Producer of Moulin Rouge, Co-Producer of Romeo+Juliet and Art Director of Strictly Ballroom. In 2001, Martin was awarded the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Producer of the Year by the Producers Guild of America. Martin was nominated for an Academy Award for Moulin Rouge.

MARTIN BROWN

Film Producer and Academic

Martin has a rare combination of skills. He has a distinguished career at the highest levels of the film industry as well as extensive experience in academic leadership, curriculum design and teaching.

As a film producer, Martin has been nominated for an Academy Award (for Moulin Rouge), won a Golden Globe and, in 2001, received the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Producer Of The Year from the Producers Guild of America. He has produced feature films from micro-budget to $100M. He has produced virtual reality, television, documentaries, commercials and new media.

As a senior academic, Martin spent six years at the Australian Film Television and Radio School, Australia’s national film school, serving as the Director of Award Courses. He was responsible for the design and implementation of 10 Masters Degrees, 1 Graduate Diploma, 8 Graduate Certificates, the new Bachelors Degree and 17 Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas. He also established online education at the School.

Martin established and led the Applied Industry Research unit at AFTRS. This unit explores the intersection of technology, narrative, innovation and business. Recent projects include VR Noir, Biometrics for Audience Engagement and Precipice, a binaural narrative podcast.

As a teacher, Martin has delivered coursework at all levels, from a one-day Introduction To Producing seminar to courses, classes and workshops for Masters students, academics and the industry.
